The Lore of Terenos
The game's world, Terenos, is steeped in history. A century before the game's events, a golden age of prosperity and peace was shattered by a cataclysmic event: the rise of an evil force, a regicide, and the descent of the gods into madness. A band of heroes attempted to counter this evil, but were betrayed, plunging Terenos into an era of darkness, suspicion, and conflict. The Cataclysm's legacy continues to shape the world, manifested in monstrous creatures and the pervasive distrust among humanity.
The Continents of Terenos
Terenos comprises five distinct continents: the mountainous Vordlands (reminiscent of Central Europe), the maritime Siborni (similar to medieval Italy), the frigid and clan-ridden Urklund, the vast and ancient Hanchura (evoking China), and the diverse Cartha, a land of deserts, jungles, and magic. Your journey begins in a Holdfast nestled in the Vordlands, the last bastion of hope against the encroaching darkness.

Each of Grimguard Tactics' 21 hero types boasts a detailed backstory. For example, the Mercenary, once a loyal soldier to King Viktor, became disillusioned after a mission involving the needless slaughter of innocent Woodfae.
