FromSoftware has begun sending out confirmation emails for the Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test, marking a major step toward the game’s highly anticipated release. However, as excitement builds, so do reports of scams and scalping attempts targeting eager fans. Stay informed about the official test details and learn how to avoid falling victim to fraud.
Fans Receive Elden Ring Nightreign Playtest Confirmation Emails
On January 30, 2025, FromSoftware confirmed via their official X (formerly Twitter) account that invitation emails for the Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test have been dispatched to selected applicants. Fans who were chosen quickly took to social media to share their confirmation messages, expressing enthusiasm and appreciation for being part of the early testing phase.
Selected participants will receive a second email on February 11, 2025, containing a unique access code required to download the Network Test client. The test is available exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Registration for the test was open from January 10 to January 20, 2025, and as of now, FromSoftware has not announced any additional testing phases or future opportunities for those who were not selected.
Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test Overview
According to FromSoftware, the Network Test is described as a "preliminary verification test" allowing selected players to experience a portion of the game before launch. The primary goal is to conduct large-scale network load testing to evaluate server stability and performance under real-world conditions.
The test will run from February 14 to February 16, 2025, with five scheduled 3-hour sessions:
- Session 1: February 14, 3:00 AM – 6:00 AM PT
- Session 2: February 14, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM PT
- Session 3: February 15, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM PT
- Session 4: February 16, 3:00 AM – 6:00 AM PT
- Session 5: February 16, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM PT
Participants can join any session they choose, giving them flexibility to test gameplay during their preferred time.
Scammers and Scalpers Exploit Hype
As soon as news of the confirmation emails spread, malicious actors moved quickly. Reports have surfaced of a phishing scam on Steam where users receive fake invitations to the Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test. Clicking on these messages redirects users to fraudulent websites designed to steal login credentials. Once compromised, these accounts often automatically send the same scam message to all friends in the user's contact list.
FromSoftware has emphasized that all official communications regarding the Network Test are sent exclusively through their official website and verified social media channels. Any third-party links, direct messages, or marketplace offers should be treated as suspicious.
Additionally, scalpers have already listed "guaranteed test codes" on various online marketplaces—despite the fact that actual codes won’t be distributed until February 11. Some listings are priced as high as $150–$200, with others auctioned off to the highest bidder. These claims are fraudulent; the codes are non-transferable and tied to individual accounts.
Remember: There is no legitimate way to purchase or transfer a Network Test code. If you weren’t selected, there’s no official backup method to gain access.
Elden Ring Nightreign was first revealed at The Game Awards 2024, with a planned release in 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. While an exact launch date remains unannounced, the Network Test signals that development is progressing steadily.
