EA Hints at 'Real Energy' for Madden, FC on Nintendo Switch 2

By JonathanJun 27,2025

As anticipated, EA has expressed strong interest in bringing its titles to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. During a recent financial call, CEO Andrew Wilson was directly asked about the company's stance on Nintendo’s next-generation console. His response indicated that EA is actively considering the platform for many of its future releases.

Wilson specifically highlighted EA’s top-performing sports franchises—*Madden* and *FC*—as titles that could generate significant momentum on the Nintendo Switch 2. He also pointed to *The Sims* as a title with potential to thrive on the new hardware. “Anytime a new console comes into the marketplace, it benefits us by allowing us to reach and acquire new players,” Wilson explained. “We’ve historically seen our franchises perform well on Nintendo platforms, and we expect games like FC and Madden will find real energy on this platform, just as they have before.”

He continued, “When you look at something like The Sims and the My Sims cozy bundle—which exceeded our expectations—it turned out that 50% of all players were new to EA. That presents a tremendous opportunity for us. While there’s nothing in our current models yet, we believe that whenever a great new console enters the market, giving us access to new players and communities, we have the intellectual property capable of thriving on it.”

Although it’s not unexpected that *Madden* and *FC* will make their way to the Nintendo Switch 2, fans are curious about the versions they’ll actually get. Historically, EA released what were referred to as “legacy” editions of *FIFA* on the original Switch, but in recent years, the rebranded *FC* franchise has aimed for feature parity across other platforms. Considering the Switch 2’s expected increase in power, it’s possible that *FC 26*, for example, could offer a version much closer to what players experience on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Now that Nintendo has officially announced the Switch 2, we’re beginning to form a clearer picture of the game lineup. A wide range of third-party titles are rumored to be in development for the system. Firaxis Games, developer of *Civilization 7*, described the Switch 2’s reported Joy-Con mouse support as “definitely intriguing” in an interview with IGN. Additionally, French game publisher Nacon, known for titles like *Greedfall 2*, *Test Drive Unlimited*, and *RoboCop: Rogue City*, confirmed that it already has Switch 2-ready games in the pipeline. There’s also growing buzz around the long-awaited release of *Hollow Knight: Silksong* on the new console.

As for Nintendo itself, the company has confirmed that a new *Mario Kart* title is in development. More details are expected to surface during a dedicated Nintendo Direct event scheduled for April.
