This guide details how to get the ship, Lady Vengeance, moving in Divinity: Original Sin 2 after escaping Fort Joy. The process involves a series of puzzles and interactions.
Quick Links
After removing your Source collar, your goal is to get the Lady Vengeance underway. This isn't done through the helm; you must find a unique method. Explore the ship, speak with NPCs, and gather clues. The key is accessing Magister Dallis' cabin and the Ancient Empire Songbook within.
Investigate Dead Bodies
Begin by searching the bodies of the magisters and ghosts on deck. A dead magister holds a Sodden Diary containing a password for a stateroom door. You can also obtain the password via a skill check at the northern stateroom door. You'll also need a Strange Gem, found later, to interact with the door. A magic mirror (south of the stateroom doors) allows for unlimited respeccing if needed for skill checks.
Find the Portside Stateroom Door
Using the password from the diary, access the ship's quarters. Interact with the unconscious Bishop Alexander to find a Strange Gem in his regalia. Use this gem and the password ("Fortitude") on the southern stateroom door to enter Dallis' cabin. This cabin also contains a hidden hatch with two dangerous ghosts and a Teleportation Prism.
Find the Ancient Empire Songbook
In Dallis' cabin, speak with Tarquin and exhaust Dallis' dialogue options. Locate the Ancient Empire Songbook on a pedestal. Reading it reveals the song needed to move the ship. It's advisable to speak to all NPCs before proceeding, as interaction will be limited once the ship sails.
Set Sail
Return to the deck and tell Malady about the songbook. She'll ask you to sing to the ship. Find the dragon figurine to the west and choose the option to sing. The Lady Vengeance will begin moving, but be prepared for an immediate ambush by powerful magisters. Ensure your party is adequately prepared for a challenging battle.
