The Witcher 4 was unveiled to the public during the Game Awards in December 2024, complete with a trailer that introduced Ciri as the new protagonist. This decision sparked significant discussion within the community, accustomed to Geralt leading the charge in the previous three games.

In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, addressed the fan response to Ciri taking the lead. Weber, who also enjoyed playing as Geralt, assured fans that the team is committed to showcasing Ciri's potential in new and exciting ways. He noted, "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."

The developers have promised that The Witcher 4 will be the most ambitious installment yet, featuring new regions and monsters. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has not yet been announced. Stay tuned to our updates for the latest on The Witcher 4!
