Strategies for Defeating Yetuga in The First Berserker: Khazan
Your first boss encounter in The First Berserker: Khazan is no easy feat. Mastering the game’s combat mechanics is crucial to emerging victorious in this challenging fight.
Yetuga is a relentless adversary, striking fiercely when its domain is invaded, as seen at the end of the Mount Heinmach level. Like other massive creatures in the game, it wields both close-range and long-range attacks, including a powerful leaping slam.
Based on your preferred playstyle, prioritize precise dodges and well-timed parries to minimize damage. Yetuga’s attack arsenal includes:
- Two-hit combo: a downward left-handed smash followed by a right-handed uppercut
- Four-hit combo: horizontal swipes with either arm
- Double-armed downward smash
- Leaping single-handed smash
- Jumping grab
- Charging attack
Learn Yetuga’s attack patterns during the fight and strike between its moves. Parrying, except for the jumping grab, deals significant Stamina damage to the boss. Use its aggressive nature to your advantage—dodge its charge to make it crash into a wall, creating a brief window for free hits. Destroying the ice spikes on its back during this moment weakens its offensive power.

Aside from the grab, all of Yetuga’s attacks in this phase can be parried, conserving your Stamina. Maintain steady pressure to push the fight into its next phase. When Yetuga roars and powers up, create distance to prepare for its escalated attacks.
Yetuga will wield a massive rock to smash at you, so time your dodge or parry carefully. It also unleashes a frost breath attack that forms ice spikes—either evade or parry when it hits. Use Potent Attacks when possible, and when Yetuga tires, unleash a Brutal Attack for major damage, bringing it closer to defeat.
Upon victory, you’ll earn 4,800 Lacrima, several Frozen Mountain gear items, and the Necklace of Resolve.
