Phase 1

The ghostly voices that have haunted Khazan come to life in the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass, manifesting as the formidable Blade Phantom. As its name suggests, this boss challenges your ability to manage stamina and maintain aggressiveness amidst its relentless attacks. This encounter marks your first multi-phase boss fight in the game.

The battle kicks off in a castle with floors flooded by a crimson liquid. Here's what you can expect from the Blade Phantom's arsenal:

  • Six-hit combo: Four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being a delayed attack.
  • Three-hit combo: Two punches followed by a downward kick.
  • Four-hit combo: Starts with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ends with a leaping kick smash.
  • Three-hit combo: Flashing punches followed by a grab that you must dodge.

In addition to these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer in *The First Berserker: Khazan*, causing damage and red spikes to appear in front of it. When it opts for a spear, anticipate a quick throw followed by a teleporting smash that you must avoid. If it wields a blade, prepare for a swift six-hit combo. It may also vanish and dash around the battlefield before striking.

Mastering the timing of these attacks is crucial. By parrying or dodging effectively, you can create openings to attack and reduce the Blade Phantom's stamina, setting up for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you deplete about half of its health, triggering the transition to Phase 2.

Phase 2

In Phase 2, the Blade Phantom initiates with a series of four claw attacks, followed by a spear throw from a height. After the spear lands, move away from the impact zone to avoid the subsequent leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a concluding hammer smash.

While the boss retains many of its earlier moves, new additions include claw attacks, a spear thrust with follow-up, and four to six swift dual-wielding attacks. The Blade Phantom also increases its teleportation frequency. When wielding the greatsword, be vigilant for multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this effectively, which not only restores your stamina but also leaves the boss vulnerable to further attacks.

Exploit opportunities to attack when the Blade Phantom's stamina is low, and only launch the Brutal Attack when the window is nearly closed to maximize damage and secure victory. Upon defeating the boss, you will be rewarded with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
