Hideo Kojima made a thrilling appearance at SXSW 2025 in Austin, TX, unveiling an epic new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and confirming its release date. The game is set to launch on June 26, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5. However, fans who opt for the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition will enjoy early access starting from June 24.
The 10-minute trailer showcases a mix of stunning cinematics and engaging gameplay clips, with a standout feature being the introduction of a character named Neil, played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli. Fans are buzzing about Neil due to his striking resemblance to Snake from Kojima's renowned Metal Gear series. In the trailer, Neil is seen donning a bandana reminiscent of Snake's iconic look and leading a team of eerie soldiers, wielding an assault rifle.
The trailer further intensifies the Metal Gear vibes with the introduction of the Magellan Man, a massive tar-like creature merged with the DHV Magellan, evoking memories of Metal Gear Rex. The Magellan Man is operated like a mech from Pacific Rim and engages in battles against formidable tar monsters. A 15" statue of the Magellan Man is included in the Collector's Edition, adding to its allure.
Pricing for Death Stranding 2 is set at $69.99 for the standard edition, $229.99 for the Collector's Edition, and $79.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. Pre-orders will open on March 17, giving fans an opportunity to secure their copies in advance.
