Krafton to Rename Dark and Darker Mobile, Ends Ironmace Partnership

By HannahOct 04,2025

  • Krafton plans to rebrand Dark and Darker Mobile and end its collaboration with Ironmace
  • The decision follows a recent lawsuit ruling, despite Krafton's claim it’s unrelated
  • Dark and Darker Mobile remains on schedule for its global launch

The mobile adaptation of the eagerly awaited hack-and-slash dungeon crawler, Dark and Darker Mobile, may soon undergo a significant rebrand. Reports indicate that Krafton is not only changing the game’s name but also severing ties with developer Ironmace Studio.

The timing is challenging for Ironmace, which was recently ordered to pay Nexon $6 million in damages following a lawsuit. The dispute centered on Nexon’s claim that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, used trade secrets from a shelved project, codenamed P3, to create Dark and Darker.

Despite Krafton’s assertion that the rebranding is unrelated to the lawsuit, the company has also confirmed it will terminate its global licensing agreement with Ironmace. As a result, Dark and Darker Mobile—or whatever it will be called—will proceed as a fully independent release.

A Treacherous Dungeon Ahead

Amid the legal drama, it’s notable that Ironmace initially accused others of copyright infringement. Yet, even after ending their partnership, Krafton appears poised to move forward with the project under a new name. This suggests the extraction dungeon crawler genre is gaining momentum, regardless of Nexon’s ongoing disputes with Ironmace.

For fans of Dark and Darker Mobile, this shift doesn’t spell doom. Krafton remains committed to the game’s global release timeline. Should any changes arise, or if new details emerge, we’ll keep you updated.

Here’s hoping the full launch of Dark and Darker Mobile delivers the exceptional quality we celebrated in our review.
