Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, envisions a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film alongside Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview, Elba expressed his excitement about the possibility, stating that a live-action adaptation featuring himself and Reeves would be "Whoa."
This isn't their first collaboration; both actors have appeared in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Elba played Solomon Reed in the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, while Reeves portrayed the iconic Johnny Silverhand in the main game.
Elba's enthusiasm fuels speculation already ignited by Variety's October 2023 report of a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project in development with CD Projekt Red and Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and The Witcher live-action series suggests a Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation is plausible.
Beyond the live-action prospect, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched, focusing on Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also slated for 2025, and a new animated series is in the works.
