Civilization 7 (Civ 7) is postponing its inaugural in-game event to allocate resources toward implementing essential quality-of-life improvements. Firaxis Games shared a development update on February 28, 2025, which included a roadmap outlining the next update's key features.

Update 1.1.0 arrives on March 4, 2025, for PC and consoles, with a separate release schedule for Nintendo Switch. The first in-game event was originally slated for this update, but Firaxis Games explained, "Although our first in-game Event*, Natural Wonder Battle, was initially planned for Update 1.1.0 on March 4, events are now being delayed to a later update to prioritize quality-of-life improvements for players globally. More details about the first in-game event will follow when we're ready."

Since its early access launch, the game has received mixed reviews, with players expressing disappointment over certain features, particularly the user interface. Firaxis Games acknowledged this feedback, stating, "We are aware of and investigating feedback on the game's UI." They added, "We're committed to continually enhancing Civilization 7 and value the time players take to share their thoughts."

The upcoming Civ 7 update will focus on addressing community suggestions and feedback. While the complete patch notes will be available at launch, Firaxis Games has shared a preview of the expected changes.

A new natural wonder, the Bermuda Triangle, will be freely available for players to discover. The highly anticipated UI adjustments are also included, addressing player concerns about this aspect of the game. Additionally, significant changes are coming to the Modern Age’s Cultural Legacy Path and Victory conditions, as AI leaders will be more effective at achieving a Cultural Victory.

The first part of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection will launch alongside the update. According to the announcement, "Players who own either of those editions, or have purchased the Crossroads of the World Collection separately, will automatically receive this content with Update 1.1.0."

Next Major Update Scheduled for March 25, 2025

Civ 7's continued improvement will see another major update on March 25, 2025, though this date remains tentative. This update will maintain a focus on refining the game's UI, as the post states, "Ongoing User Interface enhancements remain a top priority for the development team. The changes arriving on March 25 are just one phase of a broader, multi-month plan to upgrade the UI."

Beyond the March updates, Civ 7 plans to introduce further improvements and refinements, including a "one more turn" option that lets players continue beyond the Modern Age, an auto-explore feature, new map sizes for PC and consoles (excluding Switch), multiplayer support updates, and more.

Firaxis noted, "We're currently evaluating the work required to implement these priorities as quickly as possible. Some features may arrive as early as April (subject to change), while others will need more development, testing, and deployment time. As always in game development, plans can evolve, and we'll share more concrete details in the coming weeks and months. We appreciate your ongoing patience!"
