How and Where To Find Butterfly Collector Members in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

By ScarlettMar 26,2025

In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, the quest to uncover the Butterfly Collector is as intriguing as it is challenging. This faction, hidden behind a seemingly innocuous game of hunting origami butterflies, harbors a dark secret. The questline kicks off in Osaka, in the central part of Izumi Settsu, where you'll encounter a woman discussing a butterfly hunt. As you collect these large paper butterflies, which are pinned to tree trunks and surrounded by fluttering real butterflies, you'll start to uncover notes that reveal the sinister nature of the Butterfly Collector—a group of women plotting to kidnap children from wealthy families to gain power and influence.

Your mission is clear: prevent their nefarious plans by tracking down and confronting all five members of this faction. Here’s how to find each one and bring the Butterfly Collector to justice.

To locate the members of the Butterfly Collector, you'll need to follow geographical clues within the game. We'll guide you directly to each target, saving you the trouble of piecing together the puzzle yourself.

Shucho

Shucho's carelessness leads you to her. She lost the child she kidnapped in the Fishermen’s District at the southeastern tip of Osaka. Dressed in green, you can find her frantically searching at an intersection. Take her down with Naoe’s blade or Yasuke’s weapons, then rescue the child hiding behind nearby horses.

Mucho

Head northwest from Shucho's location across the bridge to the Kojo ruins. Mucho poses as a family jochu to get close to her targets and is currently struggling with a child on the road just south of the ruins. Use the child's resistance to approach her; she will attack you, forcing you to end her. Escort the child back to her mother before moving on to the next target.

Richo

Richo, a young woman who pretends to be of higher standing, frequents a bamboo grove in Noda Village, just across the water at the northern end of Osaka. You may hear rumors about a suspicious woman entering and exiting this area. Find her dressed in pink within the grove, take her down, and save the kidnapped child.

Kacho

After dealing with the previous targets, you'll confront Kacho, the leader of the Butterfly Collector. She's located just north of the Nishinomaru Garden, west of Osaka Castle, in a restricted zone. Look for a swarm of butterflies to find her. Engage her in conversation, then prepare for a deadly confrontation. Kacho will fight to the death, leaving one final member to address.

Gamemaker

Return to the Gamemaker, who initiated the butterfly hunt. As a former victim, she created this game hoping someone would unravel the mystery and save others. You have a choice to make: punish her for her involvement or allow her a chance at redemption. Opting for the latter lets her adopt a new identity and start anew.

Regardless of your decision, eliminating the Butterfly Collector faction earns you 5,500 XP toward your next level.

That's how you can effectively find and dismantle the Butterfly Collector and its members in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*. For more assistance with the game, explore resources at The Escapist.
