Bandai Namco to End PAC-MAN Mobile Service

Bandai Namco has made the tough decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile, a game that's been delighting fans for over a decade. The irony is not lost on anyone, as this year marks the 45th anniversary of the legendary PAC-MAN. This beloved version of the game, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. It included a variety of game modes that kept players engaged and entertained.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued as of April 1st, but you can continue playing the game until the final day. If you're still enjoying PAC-MAN Mobile, you have until May 30th to soak up every last bit of fun.

Many players have voiced their disappointment over the complete shutdown, suggesting that an offline version would have been a preferable alternative. This would not only satisfy the fans but could also continue generating revenue for Bandai Namco.

PAC-MAN Mobile was more than just a nostalgic trip. It featured the classic 8-bit arcade mode, a Story Mode with numerous original mazes, and an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events offering exclusive skins. The Tournament Mode added weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, and the game boasted a wide range of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, and even the joystick.

The Reason

The decision to shut down the game seems to stem from ongoing issues. Over the years, bugs and other problems have accumulated, likely contributing significantly to Bandai Namco's choice to end the game's run. The initial excitement around its launch on Android, with players striving for high scores and leaderboard rankings, is a fond memory for many.

If you want to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before it's gone, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
