- Backbone and Xbox have teamed up to launch a new mobile controller.
- The Backbone One: Xbox Edition will be priced at $109.99.
- It features distinct Xbox branding and an eye-catching translucent green finish.
Xbox has emerged as one of the biggest advocates for mobile gaming in recent years. The company, along with its parent Microsoft, aims to position Xbox as an identity rather than a single platform. It’s no surprise, then, that they’ve partnered with gaming accessory maker Backbone to introduce a dedicated mobile controller.
The Backbone One: Xbox Edition is set to retail for $109.99 and will be available through the manufacturer and Best Buy Drops. At first glance, the design is unmistakably Xbox-inspired—complete with familiar XYBA buttons, the Xbox logo, and other signature details, all wrapped in a sleek semi-translucent green shell.
Currently, the controller is confirmed to work only with USB-C devices, meaning Android phones and possibly future iOS devices if EU regulations standardize USB-C adoption.
Is the price too high? There's no denying the Xbox Edition Backbone looks stylish. I’ve always had a soft spot for transparent casings, even though my personal loyalty shifted from Xbox to PlayStation and later PC. I can see this appealing strongly to regular users of Game Pass and similar services.
However—and it’s a significant point—the $100+ price tag may deter some potential buyers. While a full Xbox console costs considerably more (typically over $400), the premium for a branded accessory could be a hurdle for many.
Even so, it’s clear Xbox is making bold moves in the mobile space. Need proof? Take a look at our roundup of the top 10 Xbox Game Pass titles for Android.
