Assassin's Creed Shadows: A March 2025 Release
Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this latest postponement aims to further refine the game based on player feedback.
The title faced its first delay in September 2024, shifting the launch from November 15th to February 14th. While the initial delay cited unspecified reasons, Ubisoft now clarifies that this second delay directly addresses player feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, Vice President Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience through ongoing player interaction. Both delays, however, share a common goal: providing additional time for the developers to polish and refine the game.
Release Date: March 20, 2025
The September delay resulted in pre-order refunds and the offer of free access to the game's first expansion for future pre-orders. Ubisoft hasn't yet commented on similar compensation for this shorter delay.
This additional delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, announced several months ago. The company, while still a major player in the gaming industry, experienced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year. This investigation focuses on creating a more "player-centric" approach to game development, and incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows could be a direct result of this initiative.
