How to Unlock the Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The Animal Festival is an annual event in Fields of Mistria, much like other seasonal town events. If you miss it one year, don't worry; you can participate the following year. The festival takes place on the 10th day of the Winter season, giving you plenty of time to prepare your animals if you're aware of the seasonal cycle. Focus on purchasing and caring for your animals well in advance to ensure they're in top condition for the big day.

How to Win the Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The highlight of the Animal Festival is the main contest, where you can enter up to two of your farm-raised animals—one small (like chickens, ducks, or rabbits) and one large (like cows, alpacas, or sheep). Remember, only fully grown adults are eligible to compete.

How to Enter the Animal Festival Contest

To enter, head to the festival grounds in the town center and speak with Josephine at the front counter. She will guide you to the two booths behind her where you can register your animals.

Josephine offers two key tips for maximizing your score. Firstly, the more hearts your animal has, the higher your score. You can increase an animal's hearts by petting or picking them up, feeding them, and letting them enjoy sunny days outside.

Secondly, the rarity of your animal's coat color can boost your score. Animals with unique colors like pink or blue have a better chance of scoring higher.

When ready, talk to Terithia at the left booth to enter your large animals, and Landen at the right booth for your small animals. A menu will display your eligible animals. Once you've made your selections, return to Josephine and tell her you're ready to 'start the judging'.

A cutscene will then play, announcing the winners of the small animal bracket first, from third place to first. If you outshine Hayden's chicken Henrietta and take first place, you'll be declared the winner of that bracket.

The large animal bracket follows, and if you beat Hayden's cow Sunshine to secure first place, you'll win that bracket as well.

At the end of the judging, you'll receive prizes based on your results. Note that winning first place in your first year can be challenging due to the time needed to fully fill your animals' heart gauges and to unlock rare animals with unique coat styles through ranch-related quests and farm upgrades.

Consistent care and upgrading your farm to its full potential each year will significantly increase your chances of winning the coveted gold crown at the Animal Festival.
