AMD has announced the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, following up on the success of the RX 9070 XT from March. However, Team Red has shared limited details about this upcoming mid-range graphics card.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT includes 32 Compute Units and 16GB of GDDR6 memory—impressive specs for a card aimed at 1080p gaming. Given its compact design, it’s no surprise the card draws significantly less power than the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) between 150W and 182W.
Since this AMD GPU has half the Compute Units and roughly half the power consumption of the RX 9070 XT, it’s reasonable to expect considerably lower performance—but potentially at a much lower price. AMD hasn’t revealed any pricing or release details for the new card yet.
The Budget Battles Have Begun
While it’s frustrating that AMD hasn’t disclosed the Radeon RX 9060 XT’s final price, it’s unlikely to cost much more than the Intel Arc B580 or the newly released RTX 5060. Both of those cards have power budgets of 145W and 190W respectively, and both launched at around $250–$300. AMD is almost certainly targeting the same price segment.
That means when the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches—whenever that may be—gamers looking for a $300-tier GPU will have three options, each from a different manufacturer. But if the new Radeon card stays within this price range, it could gain a key advantage: it will be the only GPU in this category with 16GB of VRAM, compared to 8GB from Nvidia and 12GB from Intel.
I’ll still need to test it in the lab to assess its real-world performance, but if the GPU itself is competitive, the larger frame buffer alone could help it stay relevant longer as games demand more video memory. Only time will tell how much the RX 9060 XT will cost—but it may well be the budget GPU to watch right now.
