The highly anticipated Amazon adaptation of the video game "God of War" is set to captivate audiences with not just one, but two confirmed seasons, as revealed by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Moore, who stepped into the role following the exit of Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, discussed his involvement in a recent interview with Katee Sackhoff, his former colleague from "Battlestar Galactica."
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore shared. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Moore admits he's not a seasoned gamer, though he has enjoyed classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern game controllers, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
Taking on multiple roles for the series, including writer, executive producer, and showrunner, Moore brings his extensive experience from shows like "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine," and "Battlestar Galactica" to the project. Despite changes in the production team, Sony's Cory Barlog continues to serve as an executive producer, ensuring continuity and fidelity to the original game.
While specifics about the "God of War" series remain under wraps, it's confirmed to be inspired by the 2018 installment of the game. Amazon's track record with video game adaptations, such as the successful renewals of the "Fallout" TV show and "Secret Level," suggests a promising future for "God of War" on the streaming platform.
