Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC Now Under $3,000

By ChristopherApr 17,2025

High-end prebuilt PCs often come with a hefty price tag, but savvy shoppers can still save hundreds of dollars by snagging a great deal. Currently, Dell is slashing $1,000 off the Alienware Aurora R16 with a GeForce RTX 4090, bringing the price down to just $2,899.99. This is the first time in months that an RTX 4090 gaming PC has been available for under $3,000. With standalone RTX 4090 graphics cards creeping back up in price and costing at least $2,000 from reputable vendors, building your own PC might not be as cost-effective as you'd think. Plus, with a prebuilt PC, you get the added benefit of a comprehensive warranty.

$3,699.99 save 22% $2,899.99 at Alienware

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC packs an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF stands out as the top Intel gaming CPU available, doubling as a powerhouse for productivity tasks. Known for running hot, it's effectively cooled by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The entire system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 4090 is currently the most powerful GPU on the market, outpacing all competitors from both NVIDIA and AMD. In his review, Chris Coke remarked, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." With this setup, you can play any game at 4K resolution with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, achieving high framerates even with the latest, most demanding titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. The 4090 is also a favorite among consumers for AI applications due to its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.

A note on RTX 5000 series GPUs

NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5000 series GPUs are slated to launch at the end of January. The RTX 5090 will undoubtedly offer superior performance, but at a steep price of $2,000 for the Founder's Edition at launch, and availability may be limited. The RTX 5080 is set to debut at $999, though it too might face supply constraints. We'll soon benchmark this card, but it's expected to have less VRAM than the 4090 (16GB vs 24GB) and may not dethrone the 4090 as the leading high-end GPU.

A note on Alienware's newest "R16" desktop chassis

Alienware's 2024 desktop PC design, the R16, is 40% smaller in volume than its predecessors. It boasts an efficient airflow system, drawing air in through side intake vents over the GPU area and a 120mm front fan, and expelling it via a 120mm rear fan and two 120mm top fans. The 240mm radiator for the all-in-one liquid cooling system is mounted to the top fans. While some configurations omit the liquid cooling system, we rarely feature them here due to the superior performance of Alienware's liquid cooling solution over their stock air cooling. Note that Dell unveiled a new Area 51 chassis at CES 2025, but it closely resembles the R16 in both appearance and design.
