Accessing Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria: A Guide

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been a point of intrigue on the town map. Initially inaccessible, players gained entry with the game's March 2025 update. Here’s a detailed guide on how to unlock the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus within *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

To unlock the Deep Woods, you must break the Fire Seal and utilize the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the vines blocking the entrance. Begin by gathering four essential items to place on the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar located on Floor 60 of the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items are obtainable between floors 50 and 59. However, obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To assist Balor in acquiring the Sealing Scroll, deposit the following items in the bin by his wagon:

x10 Silver Ingots
x10 Rubies
x10 Sapphires
x10 Emeralds

After fulfilling these requirements, speak to Balor again. He will inform you that the Sealing Scroll will be available the next day, allowing you to complete the offering at the altar.

Typically, breaking a magic seal results in a few words from the mysterious mines Priestess, unlocking a new biome. However, this time, the outcome differs. The Priestess urges you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health diminishes, Caldarus appears in his human form to aid you, retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to recuperate.

Caldarus then requests you to find him at his temple, granting you the Dragon’s Breath spell. This spell not only clears the vines at the Deep Woods entrance but also unlocks other hidden areas. To use it, equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the area you wish to uncover.

How To Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, Caldarus can be found inside his temple in the Deep Woods. The temple is located north of the Eastern Road on your map. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access this area. Caldarus’ precise location is marked on your map, similar to other NPCs, and he resides in the northeast corner of the Deep Woods.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods, head right, and use your axe to remove the stump blocking your path. Continue north until you reach the temple where Caldarus awaits.

Once the Deep Woods are unlocked, you can utilize the Dragon Statue on your farm for fast travel to this area. Teleporting costs just 10 Essence, offering a convenient alternative to traveling on foot or horseback.

Additionally, you can interact with Caldarus through his statue, connecting with him in spirit.
