In the wake of the formation of Reburn, a new studio composed of former members of 4A Games Ukraine, the creators of the beloved Metro series, 4A Games has issued a statement to reassure fans of their ongoing commitment to the franchise. This clarification follows Reburn's announcement of their first project, La Quimera, which sparked questions about the future direction of the Metro series.

In their official statement, 4A Games addressed any confusion regarding their relationship with Reburn. They congratulated Reburn on La Quimera while firmly stating their continued dedication to the Metro series.
“We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games,” the statement declared. “Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception.”
Additionally, 4A Games hinted at the development of a new intellectual property (IP), though they kept details under wraps. The studio took pride in their Ukrainian roots and their diverse team, noting that approximately 150 out of over 200 members are still based in Kyiv, with additional operations in Sliema, Malta, and remote setups.
Regarding the organizational split, 4A Games provided clarity:
“Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn.”
Since the launch of Metro Exodus in early 2019, fan interest in the series has only grown, despite limited updates. While spin-offs and the Enhanced Edition have kept the community engaged, many are eagerly anticipating the next installment in Dmitry Glukhovsky's dystopian universe. With the backing of Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), the studio initially hinted at a new Metro title in 2019, setting a nebulous "202X" release window. Now, it appears that the wait for the next chapter may finally be drawing to a close.
